Kordell Stewart Refusing to Pay Spousal Support, Porsha Confirms No Prenup (VIDEO)

Kordell Stewart is reportedly reluctant to pay his estranged wife Porsha spousal support, but some critics believe that he may have no choice because the pair allegedly never signed a prenuptial agreement.

The former NFL player, 40, abruptly filed for divorce from the reality TV star after almost two years of marriage Friday. He reportedly explained his stance on spousal support.

"[She's] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself," Kordell reportedly told TMZ.

The pair could be headed for a nasty divorce battle as Porsha, 31, confirmed Tuesday that she was blindsided and "disappointed" by Kordell's divorce filing.

In a January Bravo TV blog post, Porsha, who is a granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams, explained their decision not to sign a prenup.

"In my opinion a marriage is a sacred union between two people coming together as one with love being that foundation — being one in mind, body, and spirit," Porsha wrote.

"I want to bond with him in the flesh (meaning anything that has to do with the natural things, whether it's a sexual, monetary, or family issue etc.). We have the same beliefs when it comes to God and how WE have our purpose shown to us by God. So through bonding with him in mind, body, and spirit there is no place for a piece of paper to stand between us," she explained.

The estranged couple was often seen bickering on the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" reality TV show, with raising a child often at the root of their arguments.

Porsha, who has no children, wanted to be a mother and also have a career, but Kordell, who has one child from a previous relationship, often pressured her to choose one.

"Mrs. Stewart is disappointed about her husband's recent filing for divorce. Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her," Porsha's rep told Yahoo OMG!

"Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith," the representative added.
