Lecrae, for KING & COUNTRY Score Most Nods in GMA's List of 2015 Dove Award Nominees, Including 'Artist of the Year'

The Gospel Music Association announced the 46th annual Dove Award nominees on Wednesday and rapper Lecrae leads with seven nominations, including artist of the year.

The Dove Awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry, is set to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Also in the running for the artist of the year award is Grammy award-winning artist Kari Jobe, two time Grammy award-winning band for King & Country, Indie rock band Mercy Me and CCM singer Francesca Battistelli.

"I'm so honored to be nominated for two @GMADoveAwards this year!" Battistelli tweeted shortly after the announcement.

The "Write Your Story" singer is also nominated for worship song of the year for her latest song "Holy Spirit."

"Anomaly" rapper Lecrae leads the nominations followed by for KING & COUNTRY with five and Crowder, Matt Maher and Chris Tomlin each scored four nods.

"This is always an exciting day for us at the GMA," said the organization's executive director Jackie Patillo in a statement shared with The Christian Post on Wednesday.

"We are honored to recognize the many talents of our industry and the contributions they have made. This year gospel and Christian music's biggest night is going to be off the charts with unforgettable performances and special pairings."

The Dove Awards will air on Trinity Broadcasting Family of Networks on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Last year, Hillsong United led the winners with five Doves including artist of the year and song of the year.
