Left 4 Dead 3 Rumors, Update: 'Unlikely, but Not Impossible,' Says Turtle Rock Studio
It has been 5 years since the hit cooperative first-person shooter video game from Turtle Rock Studios, "Left 4 Dead 2" was launched and fans are already wondering if the alleged next installment "Left 4 Dead 3" will hit the shelves anytime in the future.
New developments on the story however suggest that another 'Left 4 Dead' sequel may arrive but its possibility are largely dependent on what Valve has to say.
Just recently, PC Gamer spoke with Turtle Rock co-founder Chris Ashton. Ashton shed light on the issue by saying that, "It would only be possible if Valve wanted it to be that way."
"It's their IP now, so they're in charge of where that goes," Ashton added.
"Left 4 Dead was very much like Evolve in that it's a game we wanted to make, it's a game that we sort of invented. It's where we cut our teeth on co-op. And so it's always going to be close to our hearts," the Turtle Rock official went on to say.
"A lot of people would jump at the chance to work on Left 4 Dead again in the future but… it's probably... I would say it's unlikely but not impossible," Ashton further explained.
Talks about a "Left 4 Dead 3" sprouted when last year, a visitor to Valve's HQ in Bellevue, Washington was reported having seen a "Left 4 Dead 3 reference in an internal company changelog," according to IGN.
Since then, no news or announcement was heard following the alleged sighting.
Its predecessor, "Left 4 Dead 2," received strong positive reviews from game journalists, receiving praises mainly for its innovation on weaponries, strategies, and other technical game details.
