'Love & Hip Hop' Stevie J Arrested for Failure to Pay $1 Million in Child Support (VIDEO)

"Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" star Stevie J was arrested in Georgia on Tuesday for falling behind on child support.

The three-time Grammy award-winning songwriter and producer, born Steven Jordan, was captured on video being escorted by police from a Georgia home and taken into custody. Reports claim Stevie, who shares two children with his ex-girlfriend Carol Antoinette Bennett, owes $1,107,412 in child support, which prompted his arrest.

"I'm a great father. Sometimes, women just go hard off their emotions and I understand that. I do right by my kids," Stevie told Hellobeautiful.com last year.

"I've been to court several times because of this," he went on. "But, everything is under control. My kids love me, I love my children and all my baby mamas and I especially love my wife."

The VH1 star, 42, was reportedly ordered to pay Bennett $6,600 a month back in 1999 and while this figure was later increased to $8,500, he has only managed to pay $132,220.30 over 14-years. A criminal complaint suggests that in 2001 Stevie stopped paying child support and subsequently he owes more than $1 million, TMZ.com reported.

"Under the 1992 Child Support Recovery Act, it is a crime to leave a state owing more than $10,000 in unpaid child support arrears for more than 2 years. Mr. Jordan owed more than 20 times that when he left New York to live in the state of Georgia," Bennett's rep Sibrena Stowe de Fernandez told RadarOnline.com in October 2013.

The hip-hop artist has reportedly the subject of an ongoing investigation conducted by Project Child Support, an organization that has been assisting Bennett.

Joseline Hernandez, Stevie's wife, among others was reportedly subpoenaed in order to assist the organization in getting info on the reality star's finances.

In 2010, an arrest warrant was reportedly issued to Stevie however it was eventually discharged without payment.

"I've just been seeing a lot in the press. I didn't know I had an issue," Stevie said according to Madamenoire.com.

"It's like everybody want their day in the sun, everybody wants to be hot," he said of Bennett.
