LSU Football: MSU Well Beaten Following Rock Solid Defensive Display

LSU and MSU met for the 105th time on Thursday, which resulted in the No. 3 Louisiana team beating the 25th ranked Mississippi football team by a score of 19-6.

Although the game was the first time any of the teams were ranked while playing one another, MSU came into the game with a 1-19 record against LSU. The game on Thursday was no exception and LSU Tigers took over the MSU Bulldogs for 76 yards of offense and five first downs in the last 30 minutes of the game.

Les Miles, LSU coach, said although his team did not do everything perfectly their defense saved the day.

"We weren't perfect by any stretch, but I felt like the intensity of the defense was strong and that ended up being the tale of the day," Miles said, according to ESPN. "I felt like the offense did the things that they needed to do. I think we did the things we needed to do to win."

John Chavis agreed with Miles, saying that his team made a lot of mistakes during the game.

"We made a bunch of mistakes, for one thing," defensive coordinator John Chavis said, according to Sports Illustrated Reports. "But they played with great effort and great attitude...If we can eliminate the mistakes, then we've got a chance to be a very fine defense."

Michael Brockers, 6-foot-6, 306-pound sophomore defensive tackle said he is excited to see what the team can really do when they clean up the errors they are making on the field.

"Our defense is really good," he said, according to ESPN reports. "But we have to learn a lot of things and we can get a lot better. You're just going to have to wait and see. It's scary. It's amazing what we would do if we played with more technique."
