Lumia 940XL Specs, Rumors: Microsoft Purported Flagship to Feature an Iris Scanner?

At the height of the unveiling of the Windows 10 OS, numerous reports pointed towards Microsoft's plan of introducing two high-end Lumia flagship devices, which will arrive with the mobile version Windows 10 OS.

The two devices will be codenamed Lumia Cityman and Lumia Talkman. The first is said to sport a 5.7-inch QHD display, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with 3GB of RAM, a 32GB of internal storage, and a 3,300 mAh removable battery.

Further details of the Cityman mentioned a 20MP primary camera which will come along with a 5MP front snapper.

The Talkman, meanwhile, comes with a smaller 5.2-inch screen QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC with hexa-core CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 32GB of memory, and will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. It will also have the same camera specs like what the previously mentioned purported device has.

But what really caught the attention of the tech world this week is a rumor saying that the premium version of the two devices (thought to be named as the Lumia 940XL) will arrive with an iris scanner technology.

Phone Arena cited famous leakster @evleaks' recent Twitter post, which apparently confirms about an iris scanner which will be integrated into the Cityman.

"Microsoft Cityman skips fingerprint reader, leapfrogs right to iris scanner," the social media post reads.

WMPoweruser.com was quick to speculatate that the said biometric authentication technology will probably use the new Windows Hello system which the Richmond, WA.-based tech giant will debut for the mobile version of the Windows 10.

All of the reference websites mentioned noted that regardless as of how accurate this latest rumors sound, the public should take this with a grain of salt until Microsoft release their official statement.
