Millionaire Breaks Waiter's Finger for Bad Service
John Castle, a 76-year-old millionaire, has been accused of breaking a waiter’s finger because he had received bad service. According to reports, the altercation took place at the Club Colette, a private dining establishment in Palm Beach.
Club Colette customers normally have meals charged to a personal account, which reduces the need for an actual bill to be brought to the table. Paul Kucik, a waiter, told police that Mrs. Castle requested a copy; when Mr. Castle saw Kucik bring a bill, he responded, “You schmuck, why did you bring the bill to the table?”
The police report states: “Mr. Castle began ranting and grabbed Kucik’s left hand and began squeezing and twisting his fingers.” Kucik explained that he had severe pain in his fingers and went to the hospital; X-Rays showed a broken finger. No action has been taken by the restaurant, and Kucik has refused to press charges.
