'Mortal Kombat X' DLC: Kombat Pack 2 Receives New Trailer

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X" DLC, Kombat Pack 2. The trailer introduces the four new characters that will be coming with the second Kombat Pack.

The new gameplay trailer (below) was uploaded to the Mortal Kombat Community YouTube page on Tuesday, Jan. 12. It showcases some of the moves of the four new Kombatants: Leatherface from the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," Xenomorph from "Alien," Tri-Borg, and the drunken fist master Bo Rai Cho.

The addition of Xenomorph the alien means players can pretty much recreate "Alien vs. Predator" scenes in the game. Developer NetherRealm added Predator to the game through a DLC that was released last year.

Meanwhile, Leatherface is the second character that comes straight out of a horror flick that's included in the game. NetherRealm released Jason Voorhees of "Friday the 13th" as part of Kombat Pack 1. The same pack also included the Predator and classic "Mortal Kombat" characters Tanya and Tremor.

"Mortal Kombat X" is not the first game in the series to feature characters from a horror movie, though. The "Mortal Kombat" game that was released in 2011 added Freddy Krueger of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" as part of a DLC. And because Jason is already part of the game, some players are saying Freddy should be added too so they can have Freddy vs. Jason matches.

Bo Rai Cho, on the other hand, is considered to be a classic character. He made his debut in "Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance" that was released in 2002.

As for Tri-Borg, he is supposedly a combination of Cyrax, Sektor, and Robot Smoke.

Kombat Pack 2 will come with a bunch of freebies. The previously released DLCs Brazil Pack, Kold War Pack, and Kold War Scorpion skin will be included in the upcoming DLC for free. Goro, which was part of a pre-order bonus, will also come with the expansion pack for free. The only new content among these freebies is the Apocalypse Pack, which comes with new "apocalyptic-themed" skins for Erron Black, D'Vorah, and Takeda.

Neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealm has announced pricing for the Kombat Pack 2 yet. But as a point of comparison, the first Kombat Pack sold for $30. The Kombat Pack 2 is expected to arrive later this year for Sony's PlayStation 4, Microsoft's Xbox One, and PC.
