'Mortal Kombat XL' and Kombat Pack 2 Release Date Fixed For March 1
"Mortal Kombat" series co-creator and NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon recently posted an update on his Twitter feed. He announced that "Mortal Kombat XL" and "Mortal Kombat X's" Kombat Pack 2 will both be released in March.
In addition to the release date, Boon also clarified that all new characters from Kombat Pack 2 and "Mortal Kombat XL" will be released on the same day.
"To those asking: All the new fighters in Mortal Kombat XL & Kombat Pack 2 become available on the same day. March 1," Boon shared on Twitter on Saturday, Jan. 30.

This means players will get all new characters at launch. This new release schedule will be a welcome change to those in the "Mortal Kombat" community who might not have liked how the first Kombat Pack 1 fighters rolled out. Last year, NetherRealm followed a gradual release of the DLC, with the characters becoming available one at a time, which meant players had to wait longer.
The upcoming "Mortal Kombat X" DLC, Kombat Pack 2, will be adding four new characters to the fighter roster. These include two characters out of horror film franchises, Leatherface of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and Alien from the movie of the same name. It will also add Bo Rai Cho, a character from past "Mortal Kombat" titles. Last but not least, Kombat Pack 2 will also include Tri-borg, who despite what his name implies is actually a quad-borg. These new DLC characters have been teased in previously released trailers of the game.
Meanwhile, "Mortal Kombat XL" is a bundle containing the main game and all game's DLCs. Content includes the new Pit Stage and playable characters Goro, Predator, Jason Voorhees of "Friday the 13th," Tanya, and Tremor. Old skin packs and new skin packs, Medieval Pack, Apocalypse Pack, and Cosplay Pack, are also included in "Mortal Kombat XL."
