Motorola Atrix 4G Review: Atrix 2 Specs Match Up to iPhone 4S

It looks like Apple has one more fierce competitor ready to enter the smartphone market with Motorola and its Atrix 2 handset.

AT&T recently announced five upcoming Android phones headed to its line up starting next week which includes the new Atrix 2 along with the Samsung Captivate Glide, AT&T Avail, Pantech Pocket and the Samsung DoubleTime.

Motorola’s Atrix 2 seems to be the most impressive device out of all these upcoming AT&T releases.

However, tech site Gizmodo states that smartphone users should not expect too much of an upgrade from this device compared to its predecessor.

But the Atrix 2 will still be a solid handset.

In certain areas, the Atrix 2 even rivals the iPhone 4S.

For one, its camera has received a significant upgrade from 5-megapixels to 8-megapixels, with 1080p recording, which makes it totally on par with Apple’s iPhone 4S.

This camera, combined with 4G HSPA+ makes the smartphone quite impressive.

It also is expected to include a larger 4.3-inch display over the 4-inches in the original version.

The Atrix 2 will not receive an upgrade in resolution as it remains at 960x540 pixels.

The smartphone runs on Android 2.3 and includes 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 4S began on Oct. 7 and the smartphone should be in customers’ hands by Friday.

Apple’s new smartphone will be released along with the Motorola’s Atrix 2 on AT&T, as well as carriers Verizon and Sprint.

AT&T has reported that it sold over 200,000 pre-orders for the new iPhone 4S.

The new iPhone will run on Apple’s A5 chip which is also used to power the iPad 2.

According to recent tests, the iPhone 4S proved to be seven times faster than its predecessor in certain areas include graphic speeds.
