'NCIS' Season 12 Spoilers: First 2 Episodes' Plots Revealed

The premiere episode of "NCIS" Season 12 will see the team doing all that they can to find Gibbs and McGee, who are on a mission in Russia.

In the episode titled "Twenty Klicks," McGee and Gibbs travel to Russia to bring home an NCIS computer engineer who has access to some classified information. However, things get complicated when their mission is compromised and they are forced to go dark as they are hunted by the enemy.

Naturally, it's up to the team in D.C. to do whatever it takes to find the missing NCIS members.

Recently some photos of the season premiere episode have been released, and it looks like Agent DiNozzo will be leading the search and rescue operation. The photos also feature Director Vance, Ducky, Bishop, and a very worried Abby.

Meanwhile, the show's second episode will reportedly feature a famous NFL player—Tony Gonzales. Cartermatt reports that Gonzales will be playing the part of Tony Francis, but no other information has been said about the role.

The episode, titled "Kill the Messenger," has a coverup premise.

"When a Navy lieutenant is killed on his way to a private meeting with the President, the NCIS team must determine if the murder was part of a recent stream of muggings in the area or a targeted hit to keep intel secret," the synopsis reads.

In other news, fans can expect to see a few crossovers in the "NCIS" universe. Michael Weatherly, who plays Tony DiNozzo, has reportedly filmed an episode in the newest "NCIS" spin-off, "NCIS: New Orleans."

"NCIS" Season 12 will premiere on Sept. 23 on CBS.
