NFL Trade Rumors 2016: Denver Broncos Still Interested in Colin Kaepernick

The Denver Broncos are one of the few remaining teams in the NFL that are still very busy trying to make some last-minute roster acquisitions. There is no blaming them though considering the huge blow they got right after winning Super Bowl 50. Everyone knows how it went with quarterback Brock Osweiler, and with him and Peyton Manning already in history books, the team needs someone else to keep them in contention.

To address the need at the quarterback position, the team is expected to reach out and discuss possibilities with the San Francisco 49ers, particularly about Colin Kaepernick. Jason La Canfora, reporting for CBS, said that the Broncos are still very much interested in carrying out a trade with the 49ers. The 28-year old has made it known that he isn't having fun playing for his current team, while the 49ers are reportedly just waiting for the April 1 deadline to release him. Although they claim that they want him in the team, the talk of them discussing trade options with the Broncos is more than enough proof that they want him out, too.

The veteran quarterback didn't show up with the kind of enthusiasm every star player is expected to provide last season. He threw 1,615 yards, with five interceptions and six touchdowns. Those numbers clearly represent a bad season where he managed just two wins on top of six defeats in those games where he started. To be fair though, Kaepernick is still in the process of recovery from a couple of surgeries he underwent to correct his left shoulder issue as well as left knee and right thumb problems.

The Broncos still have a couple of quarterbacks in the roster, but both Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian aren't the kind of players who could run the best team last season without the help of someone else who's more experienced.
