NGO Consortium Launched to Combat HIV/AIDS in Zambia

A six-year consortium has been launched in Zambia to help combat HIV/AIDS in the southern African country. The consortium, known as RAPIDS (Reaching HIV/AIDS Affected People with Integrated Development and Support), is a group of five non-government organizations who have come together to combine experiences with people affected by HIV/AIDS in both rural and urban Zambia.

"RAPIDS provides a unique blend of direct assistance (such as school fees, blankets, seeds, tools, medicines, care kits, food supplements, etc) combined with the strengths of consortium partners in community mobilization and training," said the chief of the RAPIDS consortium, Bruce Wilkinson.
