'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Midseason Spoilers: Emma Goes to the Underworld

The upcoming return of the hit series "Once Upon a Time" season 5 is expected to take the characters for a journey to the underworld.

The midseason finale of the series showed the characters of Storybrooke sent to the underworld after the arrival of the Dark Ones. Before Emma, played by Jennifer Morrison, could do anything to save her fellow Storybrooke citizens, Hook, played by Colin O'Donoghue, took the Excalibur to join the other Dark Ones.

Fortunately, with the help of Regina, played by Lana Parrilla, Hook was able to come to his senses after remembering that he was to be a selfless man. He then sacrificed himself after taking all the dark magic. But it seems as though it was not enough to save Storybrooke as it was revealed that Gold, played by Robert Carlyle, ended up gaining the Dark powers once again.

With that, the upcoming return of the series is expected to show Emma's journey to look for Hook in the Underworld. In order to bring him back to life, she must be willing to share her heart with him. This is what her parents had done in order to save each other.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Emma's journey is expected to bring in some returning characters to the series. ABC recently shared a teaser for the upcoming midseason premiere that showed several characters such as Peter Pan and Regina's mother. It was said that the returning characters will be helping Emma in her journey to find Hook.

Fans are hoping that the midseason finale is not the last time they would see Hook. Many are rooting for Emma and Hook to finally reach their happily ever after.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 is expected to return on ABC this March 2016.
