'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 Recap, Spoilers: What to Expect in 'Glorious Horrors'?
Last week's episode of Showtime's hit horror TV drama series "Penny Dreadful" Season 2 took the fans by storm with what appears to be a stellar-kind of performances by the cast, most especially by Billie Piper as Lily.
For those who missed it, the resurrected body of Brona Croft was found out to be more romantically-connected with her creator, Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) despite what the latter tells her. She was in fact brought back to life as an intended bride for Victor's first creation, Caliban a.k.a. John Clare (Rory Kinnear).
Ethan's (Josh Hartnett) past, meanwhile, continues to haunt him. Scotland Yard's Bartholomew Rusk (Douglas Hodge) has finally able to hold Ethan for some questioning about the horrific events which took place in Mariner's Inn back in Season 1.
Although he evaded the police from following his trail, the episode revealed that the victim whom he left for dead during that night at the bar was able to track him down at Sir Malcolm Murray's (Timothy Dalton) place.
Sir Malcolm, on his part, has finally succumbed to the enchantments of the evil witch, Evelyn Poole (Helen McCrory). Madame Kali, as what she was once called, continues to torture Malcolm's wife through a totem. Gladys Murray (Noni Stapleton) ended up killing herself (slit of throat) when she begins to see her dead son and daughter coming out from their graves.
This week's segment, meanwhile, will probably tackle on the issue about Mrs. Murray's death as the synopsis provided by the network revealed that Sir Malcolm will receive tragic news. Fans were quick to speculate that this could finally drive the last nail in Evelyn's plan to fully penetrate Mr. Murray's life. Of course, this will eventually lead her to Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) whom her "master" requires.
Speaking of Vanessa, the summary went on to say that "a glorious night turns to horror" for the show's main character.
"Penny Dreadful" Season 2 airs this Sunday, June 7, on Showtime.
