1. 'Unjust peace' after next Cold War

Looking back on the end of the Cold War with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Thiel reportedly suggested the most dominant geopolitical standoff of the second half of the 20th century ended with what he called a “just peace, where somehow you didn’t have a nuclear war.”

He added, “Somehow our side, which I think was more the good side, basically won. And you ended up not with a perfect peace, but more or less a just peace.”

Next time, however, may not end in the same result, said Thiel. “So if we have World War III, it will be an unjust war,” he said. “If we have Cold War II, maybe it can end in a just peace or an unjust peace.”
