Pokemon X and Y: Gamer Reveals 'How to' Guide on Catching Shiny Pokemon

For years Pokemon has had secret shiny Pokemon mixed into their games without anyone knowing about them or how to encounter. In Pokemon X and Y, there are a few tricks that make it easier to catch one.

Although it happens quite infrequently, gamers may stumble upon a shiny alternate version of a Pokemon that is no different except for the color.

According to Kotaku, this feature is in most of the Pokemon games aside from the early few and many players have gone years without encountering one.

A Tumblr account called Yellowfur has drawn a diagram of how to easily access these shiny Pokemon, which requires a combination of patience and the right equipment.

Pokemon X and Y sold over 4 million copies globally of the game during its launch weekend, an impressive feat the game and for the 3DS, seeing as there are only 35 million handhelds worldwide.

While GTA 5 sold an incredible 12 million units in a day, they also had 160 million consoles to sell to, reports Techland. The ratio between 3DS users and Pokemon X and Y a greater testament to how highly regarded the game is.

"When combining and comparing regional data for previous launches, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y would be the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time and are tracking ahead of the last Pokémon RPG titles, Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, by more than 70 percent," Nintendo said in a public statement.
Comparatively, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sold 1.75 million units in its first week.

245 million Pokemon games have been sold worldwide since the original Red and Blue reports Nintendo.
