One of the nation's leading pro-life grassroots campaign groups, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, questions why Planned Parenthood continues to receive more public funding when the share of health services it offers has steadily decreased over the past decade.

"For yet another year, pregnant women seeking help at Planned Parenthood are sold an abortion 97% of the time, while prenatal services, miscarriage care and adoption referrals make up a minuscule minority of the options they offer," SBA Pro-Life America declared in a Monday statement. "Meanwhile, their priorities include their assault on parental rights, transgender' treatments' and political spending to defeat Republicans."

Planned Parenthood performed 402,200 abortions in the last reporting period, an increase from the 392,715 abortions documented in its 2022-2023 annual report. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of pap tests fell by about 12%, and cancer screenings fell by at least 8%.

Michael New, senior associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, SBA Pro-Life America's research arm, summarized the decline in Planned Parenthood's health services in a statement provided to The Christian Post.

"In 2023, Planned Parenthood performed fewer Cancer Screenings, Pap Tests, and UTI tests. All of this is consistent with long-term trends," the pro-life scholar told CP. "Over the past 10 years, the number of cancer screenings performed by Planned Parenthood has decreased by more than 54 percent while abortions have increased by more than 22 percent."

Despite a continued decline in various health services, the report indicates that Planned Parenthood received $792.2 million in government grants and reimbursements for the fiscal year 2023.

"This report heightens the urgency to defund Big Abortion and stop forcing taxpayers to fund an industry that destroys unborn lives and preys on women and girls," SBA Pro-Life America added, citing a report from its research arm last month that noted community health centers outnumber Planned Parenthood locations 15 to one nationwide.

The organization voiced its support for House Republicans working on a budget reconciliation process to end federal funding of abortion businesses such as Planned Parenthood.

"The evidence is clear — Big Abortion harms women and girls, destroys unborn babies' lives, and is a terrible investment for taxpayers," SBA Pro-Life America stated.
