Rihanna Cyber Bullying Teenage Fan? People Angry at Singer

Rihanna is being accused of cyberbullying a fan who attempted to follow in the fashion of one of her favorite singers.

Rihanna, the 26-year-old Barbadian pop star, was the inspiration behind 16-year-old Alexis Carter's prom outfit a few weeks ago. While the Baltimore based teenager thought she was being unique by emulating Rihanna's jumpsuit from the Echo Awards in 2010, she became a topic of thousands of jokes on Twitter and Instagram.

Even Rihanna joined in on the social media jesting, causing issues for the teenager. Alexis revealed why she initially wore the outfit that made her the cause of some hurtful jokes.

"I was like, 'Oh my god, I love this outfit, I wanna go with this outfit,'" she recalled to Fox Baltimore. "Let me go show my mom,' and I was like, 'Mom, Mom, Mom, I wanna wear this, it's cool, I love it, oh my god.'"

After Alexis became the subject of numerous internet memes, Rihanna posted an image of the teenager next to a Wu-Tang Clan symbol made famous by the rap group.

"I was very offended," she told FOX. "Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing? The poses was different, but the outfit wasn't."

After being referred to as "prom bat," and continually taunted on social media, Alexis insists Rihanna does not love her fans the way she portrays herself to in the public eye.

"She don't love her fans like she says she does," Alexis told FOX.

After Alexis spoke out, a number of people spoke out against Rihanna.

"No longer a fan of @Rihanna , I don't care who you are, bullying is never okay! #PromBat," one person tweeted.

Another person tweeted, "GROSS. Celebrity status comes with responsibility. Celebrities who bully are cowards. Grow up, #Rihanna."
