Samsung Galaxy A9 Is Getting A Larger 'Pro' Variant

If recent reports prove to be true, Samsung may be releasing a larger screen variant of its Galaxy A9, called the Galaxy A9 Pro. Report has it the device is said to have passed through an import-export tracking site called Zauba, with a model number SM-A9100, according to a report in Tech Times.

The device is said to be smaller than Samsung's Galaxy Mega, which sports a 6.3-inch screen. The Galaxy A9 Pro is reported to have a screen size of 6 inches. While the Galaxy Mega, which was released in 2013, was not such a big hit because of its large size, this time around, the Galaxy A9 Pro can still hit it big as phones nowadays are getting bigger and bigger.

Earlier reports cited that the device passed through benchmarking sites, indicating that it will definitely sport a 6-inch screen. Under the hood, the phone is said to be powered by an octa-core CPU with Cortex-A72 cores running at 1.8GHz, which according a GSM Arena report, sounds like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652. It is said to have a faster RAM at 4 GB, which is better than the 3 GB of the regular A9. The same report also indicated that it will have a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Now that the device is said to have passed through Zauba, its release may be imminent. According to the Tech Times report, the phone listed as SM-A9100 appeared on the import-export tracking site and confirms that the phone's screen will be 6 inches. The report further speculates that the phone will likely have a Quad HD resolution with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. This may be plausible given that Samsung is already using Quad HD displays on its newer flagship devices.

According to the Zauba entry, the device is priced at around $360 but it may still go up given the device was still listed as for "testing" and not yet for release in the market.
