Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs to Include 13MP Camera With OIS

Rumors that include specs for the Samsung Galaxy S5 are already beginning to surface.

A new report from the Japanese tech website Tech On confirms that Samsung is developing a lens that will improve the overall performance of the 13-megapixel camera found on the Galaxy S4.

The new point-and-shooter that will be found on the flagship's successor could be equipped with OIS, also known as Optical Image Stabilization. This technology will correct angular errors of up to 1.5 degrees and will double the anti-shake correction found on many high end smartphone cameras currently in the market.

The lens is expected to produce low-light pictures that are eight times brighter than what is found on the Galaxy S4. The new camera component will not alter the size of the device as its dimensions are quite similar to what is found on the current flagship.

This is not the first rumor to surface regarding changes being made to the Galaxy line's camera.

A report was released at the end of last month that said that the Galaxy S5 will feature an ISOCELL image sensor that increases light sensitivity and regulates the absorption of electrons which leads to higher color fidelity in poor lighting conditions. This will improve the image quality overall.

"Through advances within pixel and procedure technology, smart phone and pill cameras have made it easier than ever for customers to capture and share beautiful, clear pictures with the world," said Samsung in a recent statement. "ISOCELL technology is another innovation which significantly raises the bar in picture quality, and shows Samsung's technology leadership in image sensors with regard to mobile devices."

Samsung will use this technology to improve photography on its future devices including the next-gen Galaxy Note.
