Season 2 of 'The Affair' to look into consequences of the affair

Season 2 of "The Affair" will get more complex and introspective when Noah's and Alison's affair is unveiled and their spouses come in. Season 2 will carry forward the story with the perspectives of the four people involved in the affair, Noah and Alison and their spouses, Cole and Helen, respectively.

In Season 2, the spouses are very determined to get their errant partners back into their lives. Helen says she wants Noah back even though he does not deserve her trust and love. Cole too will not let Alison go. In fact, he will compete with Noah in this respect and try to win Alison over again. Is Cole planning revenge or has he something else up his sleeve?

It appears so as a new character who will be Cole's love interest will appear later in Season 2, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Catalina Sandino Moreno will play Luisa, Cole's new love interest who was an illegal immigrant from Ecuador and is a highly "independent and spirited" woman, working while studying in school.

The creator of the hit show, Sarah Treem, said, "Season two in the past will pick up very quickly after season one ends. We have more to go in terms of the story before the past catches up to the present. I hope we'll be seeing Helen and Cole's [narratives], It's all still very much theoretical, but that's the idea in my head at this point."

Ruth Wilson, who plays Alison, says her character will take some time to introspect and discover the consequences of her indiscretion with Noah. She also said in a promo video, "This season we will be watching consequences of Noah and Alison's affair. If relationships start from the place of secrecy, can it go to a place of honesty."

Maura Tierney, who plays Noah's wife Helen Solloway, says, "The wreckage they have left in the wake of that, it doesn't disappear."

From the somewhat breezy and charming moments of season one, "The Affair" will take a deeper look into what happens to the people involved in an extramarital affair.

"The Affair" Season 2 will return on October 4.
