'Sherlock' Season 4 Christmas Episode News: More Tidbits Shared On Victorian Era Special
The long wait is almost over as "Sherlock" is set to grace the small screens this New Year with a Victorian special that will surely spark all the intensity that the previous seasons of the widely acclaimed series have offered.
In the full synopsis released online (via Den of Geek), Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will join hands in solving a case in the late 1890s that happens to be so special it will not only be depicted in the Victorian era but will also serve as the series' Christmas special.
Part of the synopsis reads: "We've been here before — but what if this wasn't the modern day but the late Victorian period? What if the world's most famous consulting detective and his best friend lived in a Baker Street of steam trains, hansom cabs, top hats and frock-coats? Welcome to Sherlock in 1895!"
Aside from the interesting story line that will be filmed on Baker Street, where steam trains awaken the sleepyheads and top hats are very much in, the episode will also be exploring the relationship that Sherlock has with his best friend.
Indeed, some things never change as the two best of friends are faced with a murder, a confused man, and a ghost in her old wedding gown. The synopsis hints that Thomas Ricoletti will be "surprised" to come across his wife wearing her old wedding gown that's supposed to be locked away.
It turns out that Mr. Ricoletti murdered his wife just a few hours before seeing her in the wedding gown. Now, Sherlock and his good, old friend need to fend off the ghost of Mrs. Ricoletti, who haunts the streets in search for a bloody revenge.
They will come across truths and lies about what really happened before Mr. Ricoletti killed the "Abominable Bride."
The Victorian era special titled "The Abominable Bride" airs on Friday, Jan. 1, on PBS.
