Sony Xperia Z4 Rumors: Release Date of New Android Flagship Coming Soon, Phone to Launch Next Week?

For loyal Sony fans, it has been a strange year for the Japanese manufacturer. Instead of beginning the year with a strong push in the high-end category, Sony decided to launch a few budget phones, and let consumers wait.

As a result, other Android phone makers such as Samsung, HTC and other brands have already made their moves to capture the market's interest.

Fortunately, it looks like the Japan-based manufacturer is actually gearing for an upcoming press event.

According to a report by GSM Arena, reports from Sony's home market hinted that it would be having a press event on Monday, April 20. While there are no assurances just yet, rumors are pointing to a new Sony Xperia Z4 flagship.

However, the report also mentioned that the Xperia smartphone that has been leaking everywhere the last few weeks might not be called Z4 at all. Instead, it could be a high-end Xperia Z3 Neo phone.

That rumor came from a Twitter post from a user that specializes in leaking stuff, as described by GSM Arena. The Xperia Z3 Neo has allegedly been confirmed already by unknown sources.

Meanwhile, Sony continues to be among the underdogs in the international Android market. A few years ago, the Japanese company stated that it would focus its handsets in Japan and EU.

There were also reports that Sony will soon pull out the plug in its mobile division and just concentrate on other electronic consumer devices.
