'South Park: The Fractured But Whole' News: On the Free Trial and the Hard Work Poured Into The Game

Developed by Ubisoft, "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" received a lot of positive reviews since it was released last Oct. 17. The unexpected role-playing game has been lauded for posing a gripping gameplay that veteran and new fans will relate to. Considering how it was released in the midst of many other game titles, Ubisoft seems to be determined to get more fans onboard, as recent reports have revealed that a free trial is now available.

According to reports, the "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" free trial is expectedly and unsurprisingly limited. The turn-based, role-playing video game offers an hour of the full experience that it has to offer. After the available time has ended, the progress will only carry over if those who were able to play it will decide to buy the full release of "South Park: The Fractured But Whole."

However, the free trial is only available for gamers who are using Sony's PlayStation 4 or Microsoft's Xbox One. There is no official word on whether or not it will be released for PC, but more details are expected in the coming weeks.

For those who have not yet given the game a chance to prove itself, a recent interview with "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" executive producer Nao Higo reveals why it is worth the shot. Aside from the gameplay and the storyline, there was considerable effort to make the game title resonate with the fans.

"Late in the production cycle we were looking at the game and we're saying 'OK, is this going to really be the quality that we're proud to ship it with?' Talking with South Park, we decided collectively that nope, we need to keep refining it," Higo told IGN. "That [refinement] meant changes to the story, which means we have to remake entire missions, or just throw away missions that were pretty far along. I think for us and for Ubisoft, the folks in charge care about games that matter and games that are good."

"South Park: The Fractured But Whole" is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
