Super Smash Bros 4 and Mario Kart 8 Spring Release Date? Nintendo Germany Executive Hints at April 2014

Super Smash Bros 4 and Mario Kart 8 are both set to arrive next spring, Nintendo Germany boss hints in a statement.

Gamespot reports that German Nintendo executive told Neckar-Chronik that the games would be released in early spring, however, the main Nintendo company has declined comment.

According to Gamespot, Mario Kart Wii sold 34.26 million copies while SSB3 sold 11.49 units. Both of these games are expected to sell extremely well and help push the Wii U.

Previously Mario Kart 8 was connected with an April 25 2014 release date according to a listing by UK retailer Littlewoods, and an accidentally leaked newsletter from Nintendo Europe.

Mario Kart has been a staple of the Nintendo since Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo in 1992.

The game revolves around characters in the Super Mario universe and their head-to-head racecar battles. Players are able to cycle through a series of weapons and gadgets to enhance their skills on the track.

Super Smash Bros 4's release date may have been unintentionally leaked on a retailer's website listing as well.

The website lists the Wii U date as December 31 2014 and the 3DS version of the game as being available on May 16 2014.

See the listings here (3DS) and here (Wii U).

The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, and the Villager.

The SSB series has been popular since its first installment for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Every subsequent Nintendo console has had one Super Smash Bros. game.

SSB4 Wii U is $59.99 and SSB4 3DS is $39.99.
