'Tekken' Producer Katsuhiro Harada Talks Idea for a Dream Crossover Fighting Game

"Tekken" producer Katsuhiro Harada is interested in creating a crossover fighting game featuring characters from different franchises.

In an interview with PCGamesN, he hinted that they are "hard at work" on another guest character set to be fetaured in "Tekken 7" that they will announce soon.

In that spirit, Harada said that he would want to do more than just bringing guest characters to their games but bringing together a roster of fighters from various franchises. He explained:

If it's just a wish list, not necessarily for Tekken 7, I've always been interested in taking my favorite characters extending from many different company franchises and putting them into a "King of Fighters" style.

"King of Fighters" is a hit fighting franchise whose ensemble featured characters primarily from "Art of Fighting" and "Fatal Fury" as well as the "Ikari Warriors" and "Psycho Soldier" games.

While nothing is set in stone yet about this dream fighting game, he did talk the next addition for "Tekken 7," which is no other than Geese Howard from "Fatal Fury."

He discussed how they approached it especially following the successful addition of Akuma from "Street Fighter," adding that players will be able to control the latest addition to the fold the same way they can play as Akuma.

It's quite exciting because when we first started developing Geese and Akuma [prior to that], it was full of new challenges on how to take the character and bring them over to the "Tekken" series. There are many ways you could go about it. Do you leave the character as he is originally, [only] inside of our game? Do you interpret him as a Tekken character? Do you try to do both where you take the character and have it play as it normally would but do it very skillfully so it matches the game system you have? There's various roads you can take.
