Gordon D. Fee, a theologian, distinguished professor, Bible translator and bestselling author who was considered an expert in pneumatology, or the study of the Holy Spirit, died at age 88.

The son of an Assemblies of God pastor, Fee served as professor of New Testament from 1986 to 2002 at Regent College, before transitioning to the role of professor emeritus.

Noted scholar Douglas Moo, who serves as the Wessner Chair of Biblical Studies at Wheaton College, remarked in a statement that “Fee had an enormous influence on many aspects of biblical scholarship and the Christian life.”

“I have fond memories of Gordon announcing, about an issue we were debating, ‘I have no passion for this’ — only to go on to argue passionately about the matter,” Moo stated.

“This passion for Christ and for accurate understanding and communication of the Scripture marked all his service for the Lord.”
