The race to challenge Trump: Biden strong; Harris losing support?

Among the declared presidential hopefuls for the Democratic Party, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont holds a strong lead in fundraising over others vying for the Democrat nomination.

According to the “Presidential committee reports” on the Federal Election Commission’s website, during the first three months of the year, Sanders’ campaign brought in over $20.6 million in total receipts.

Behind Sanders was Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts with approximately $16.4 million, Senator Kamala Harris of California with approximately $13.2 million, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York with approximately $12.6 million, and former Congressman John Delaney with approximately $12.1 million.

However, all were well behind President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, which reported over $30.3 million in total receipts for the first quarter.

CNN attributed President Trump’s fundraising success in part to his decision to file the paperwork for his reelection campaign the day he was sworn into office.
