The Scary Bible Story of Ananias and Sapphira Like You've Never Imagined (VIDEO)

So all those stories in the Bible about people being struck dead because of their transgressions – that's just in the Old Testament, way back when, right? Not exactly.

In the case of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5, this couple in the early Christian church in Jerusalem decided to sell their land and donate the profits to the Body. But they had the idea of secretly keeping some of the profit for themselves. Bad idea.

When Peter called them out on their deception, husband and wife each fell dead on the spot. And thus was established a lasting reminder that God knows our hearts, no matter how clever we think we are.
