'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Major Character Death

"The Walking Dead" season 6's latest episode brought an unexpected death of a major character, but some fans still cannot help but wonder if Glenn's death was real or if he will return to the series.

Glenn's death in "The Walking Dead" season 6 was a major tearjerker for the fans of the post-apocalyptic series, especially since he appeared to die at the merciless hands of the zombies. However, it is worth noting that Steven Yuen, the actor who plays Glenn in the series, was not featured on "The Talking Dead" right after.

The actors whose characters get killed in "The Walking Dead" usually appear on "The Talking Dead" to talk about the episode. Yuen's failure to appear on the show triggered rumors that Glenn might still be alive after all, the report explains.

Another factor to consider is the difference between Glenn's death in the comics and in the actual series. In the comics, Yuen's character dies after his head is brutally bashed in by The Saviors' leader Negan with a baseball bat with barbed wire wrapped around it. "The Walking Dead" series has been known for tweaking some of the details from the comics, but Glenn's actual death may still come close to the original story.

In the recent "The Walking Dead" season 6 episode titled "Thank You," Glenn and Nicholas were planning to set the store on fire to divert the zombies invading Alexandria. Unfortunately, the store was already blazing when they arrived and they ended up being cornered by a crowd of zombies. Thinking that it is the end of his life, Nicholas thanks Glenn for saving his life in the past and shoots himself dead. As the two fell off the dumpster, the horde of zombies closed in on them, Variety reports.

Based on history, zombies usually ignore live humans underneath walker juices, so some fans think that Glenn may have played dead while the walkers feasted on Nicholas' dead body. Showrunner Scott Gimple also fanned the speculations with the statement he released after the episode, the report relays.

"In some way we will see Glenn — some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn — again," Tech Times quotes Gimple's statement. "Either in flashback or the current story to help complete the story."

Glenn may still return later on either as a zombie or in another form, but his real status in the "The Walking Dead" season 6 is still unconfirmed.
