'The Winds of Winter' Release Date News Update: Fans Wait Patiently for George R.R. Martin to Confirm Launch of Sixth Book

The release date of "The Winds of Winter" has been pushed further and further, however, loyal fans are still waiting patiently for George R.R. Martin to confirm the release of the book.

Martin admits that the sixth book is still not done until now, so the publishing might not even happen before "Game of Thrones" premieres this spring. According to reports, the fate of Jon Snow will be revealed on the hit TV series first, before fans can read it from the upcoming book. The website finds it awkward and ironic, especially now that the series will be ahead of the novel, where the stories first began.

In his Live Journal blog, Martin said that he's also disappointed that "The Winds of Winter" is not yet done. Everyone, including his fans, editors, publishers, HBO, and others, is disappointed since he was expected to finish the book at the end of last year.

He revealed that there are already lots of stories written, in hundred pages and dozen chapters, but he admits that it is still far from completion. "But there's also a lot still left to write. I am months away still... and that's if the writing goes well," he said. The author also said that he have a lot to rewrite, as well. "I always do a lot of rewriting, sometimes just polishing, sometimes pretty major restructures," Martin shared.

He also admits that it concerns him that "Game of Thrones" was able to catch up with the books, which causes complications because it's "revealing things not yet revealed in the books, etc." When he first didn't make it to his own deadline last Halloween, the author revealed that it depressed him. "I tried, I promise you. I failed," Martin sadly admits.

The last promise that the author made is that "The Winds of Winter" will be "pretty good" when it comes out eventually, and that he'll keep writing. "Chapter at a time. Page at a time. Word at a time. That's all I know how to do," he concluded.
