It was another busy week for President Donald Trump and his administration, as he pulled back from one of the most controversial ideas of his term while pastors found themselves on opposite sides of a debate about justice and mercy.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration also issued a new rule to speed up the termination of refugee status for people found to have obtained it through fraud, drawing concern from Christian refugee resettlement groups.

Other developments include a federal report alleging that major banks took adverse actions against customers because of their religious or political views and a U.S. Justice Department announcement that nearly half a billion dollars in tax fraud had been uncovered nationwide.

Here are five highlights from the past week.
