Trump's week in review: America 250; birthright ruling; midterm convention announced

5. Trump to speak on National Mall for July 4 celebration
Speaking at the dedication ceremony of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota, this week, Trump said he plans to speak on the National Mall at a July 4 celebration despite the anticipated heat.
“It’s going to be 107 degrees out and I’m going to go and I’m going to make a really long speech just to show that I can do anything,” he said.
The Salute to America Celebration and Fireworks will feature military flyovers throughout the day, along with musical performances and speeches. Trump’s remarks are scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m. ET, and the fireworks are slated to begin at 10:30 p.m. and last 40 minutes.
As noted by Freedom 250, the organization behind multiple events commemorating the U.S.’s 250th anniversary, including the Salute to America, this year’s fireworks show is expected to be twice as long as the National Mall’s typical annual display.
Trump’s National Mall speech will not be his only address commemorating America’s 250th birthday. He is also slated to speak at Mount Rushmore Friday night, where a fireworks display will take place against the backdrop of the granite monument. In addition to the fireworks, the Mount Rushmore event will feature musical performances, military flyovers, and a “salute to all six branches of the Armed Forces.”
