4. Census Bureau announces record-low child poverty, record-high median income 

The U.S. Census Bureau released new data Tuesday on income, poverty and health insurance coverage in the U.S. for 2025.

The data show median household income reached a record high of $87,460 in 2025, while the child poverty rate fell to a record low of 13.4%. 

Meanwhile, detailed statistics from the Census Bureau show the overall poverty rate of 10.2% was at or near the record low measured just before the COVID-19 pandemic. The full report on 2025 income shows the female-to-male earnings ratio was 83.9%, at or near a record high.
