Trump's week in review: Targeting ISIS in Nigeria, $3K to illegal immigrants who self-deport

2. DHS increases reward for self-deportation to $3K for Christmas season
In a statement published Monday, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that in the final days of 2025, illegal immigrants who self-deport will receive a $3,000 stipend in addition to a free flight home.
The temporary incentive of $3,000 constitutes an increase from the $1,000 typically offered to illegal immigrants who self-deport using the CBP Home App, which was established by the Trump administration earlier this year.
“Since January 2025, 1.9 million illegal aliens have voluntarily self-deported and tens of thousands have used the CBP Home program. During the Christmas Season, the U.S. taxpayer is so generously TRIPLING the incentive to leave voluntarily for those in this country illegally — offering a $3,000 exit bonus, but just until the end of the year,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. “Illegal aliens should take advantage of this gift and self-deport because if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return.”
Noem elaborated on the initiative in an appearance on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” Monday, explaining that illegal immigrants who self-deport using the CBP Home App “might get the chance to come back to this country the right way someday.”
She warned, however, “If you wait until we interdict you and detain you and arrest you and have to deport you ourselves, you’ll never get the chance to come back.”
