Trump's week in review: The dawn of 'Super intelligence'; troops exit Iraq; new refugee ceiling draws concern

With troops coming home from Iraq, an updated refugee cap aimed mostly at one group and a new rules proposed for the nation's first nationwide school choice program, the first week of fiscal year 2027 featured no shortage of headlines from Washington.
An Evangelical relief agency accused the U.S. this week of "slamming shut the 'golden door'" for persecuted Christian refugees. The charge came Thursday, the first day of fiscal year, after President Donald Trump capped refugee admissions at 17,500 and directed that most of those slots go to Afrikaners from South Africa.
Other developments from the week include proposed rules for a new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit and the U.S. Department of Education formally rescinding a Biden-era Title IX rule that interpreted “sex” to include sexual orientation and gender identity.
Here are five highlights from the past week for the Trump administration.
