Vanessa Hudgens Blue Hair Debuted, Actress Joins Colorful Hair Trend (PHOTO)

Vanessa Hudgens is the lately Hollywood starlet to dye her hair a vibrant hue this season.

The former Disney star shared a photo of a new blue hair color on Instagram over the weekend while quoting a line from the novel "White Oleander" by Janet Fitch. Hudgens sported a flower crown on her head while her long hair fell down in waves streaked with blue and blonde colors.

"She would be half a planet away, floating in a turquoise sea, dancing by moonlight to flamenco guitar," Hudgens wrote in the caption of the photo.

The "Gimme Shelter" star paired her new ombre hair color with a large matching turquoise ring. However, the actress' hair color may be impermanent since just last month she toyed with hair chalk.

"Well, hello hair chalk, You're fun," she wrote on Instagram.

She ultimately decided on the green hair chalk color, adding, "Me likey dis greeeen."

Hudgens is not the first starlet to opt for an unusual hair color this year. Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Pink and Rihanna are each known for unusual hair colors that include entire spectrum of the rainbow. Among them, Katy Perry went for a "slime green" look to welcome Springtime.

"I've wanted to go slime green for a long time," Perry told E! News in April. "It's spring time and I think it's time to freshen up my look. I'm really excited about slime green, but I hope my hair doesn't fall out."

Then days later on Instagram, the singer reiterated that the bright color signified springtime while also revealing the Beverly Hills salon where she received the color treatment.

"SLIME GREEN FOR SPRING by my bb's @neenaboo & @brantmayfied at the @mcmillansalon," Perry posted to the social media site on April 7.

In the past, Perry has had pink, electric blue, purple and red hair. The singer joins a slew of other starlets who are experimenting with brighter hair colors of late, including Kristen Stewart. However, the actress dyed her locks orange because of a new role in the film "American Ultra."
