It was announced on Saturday that Robert Griffin III will not start for the Redskins on Sunday, and that Kirk Cousins would be behind center for this Week 15 match up.
Shortly after the news became public RG III tweeted: "The decision was not my own... But I will be there for my team!!! In every way I possibly can."
The decision on RG III's availability was made by the Redskins' team doctor, who indicated that if there was any further risk to injuring his right knee he would not be risked. It now appears as though there is a risk of further injury and Griffin III will not be risked.
Cousins will be making his first NFL start in this game, and will be thrown in at the deep end, with the Redskins having no room for any mistakes with just three weeks left of the season. Cousins did appear against the Ravens last week and helped his team overcome Baltimore by coming in on the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile the Cleveland Browns are almost certain to finish as the basement team in the AFC North, and most would make the high flying Redskins favorites for this one. But the Browns have won three straight games coming into this match up, and considering this game will be in Cleveland, this will be no walk in the park for the Redskins.
If the Redskins do lose today their playoff hopes would be left hanging by a thread.
