Watch a State Trooper Risk His Life to Save an Elderly Man From a Gas Station Fire (VIDEO)

New York state trooper John A. Vescio was off-duty when a harrowing life-or-death moment found him, and he emerged a hero.

Surveillance camera footage from a Mobil station in White Plains, N.Y. shows Vescio pumping gas as a car crashes into the pump. Flames erupt immediately.

Vescio runs for safety before turning back to rescue the driver, an elderly man who had gone into diabetic shock. It wasn't long before the blaze had engulfed the car completely.

Both men received only minor injuries from the fiery crash.
