Winds of Winter Delay Could Affect Game of Thrones HBO Series

Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss may run out of official material to continue the adventures of Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) in the immensely popular fantasy drama series 'Game of Thrones,' according to IBTimes, as the Winds of Winter release date continues to suffer delays.

The publication claims that the delay of G. R. R. Martin's next book "The Winds of Winter" could somehow affect the HBO show.

"The Winds of Winter" is the much-anticipated forthcoming novel and was originally intended to be the final installment in Martin's epic fantasy series 'A Song of Ice and Fire.'

Following the success received in the expansion series, the 65-year-old author eventually announced that TWOW will be succeeded by one final novel, "A Dream of Spring." As later revealed, the final two volumes will take readers farther to the north and that the Others (otherwise known as the white walkers) will also be featured.

With regards to the release date, GRRM's UK-based publisher, Jane Johnson, took to her social media to announce that the book will "certainly" not be published before 2015. Futher information was also given when Anne Groell, the novelist's editor, answered panel discussions during an online Q&A session that "George is hard at work, and we hope to have it reasonably soon."

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Martin was asked how he was faring in his writing process with TWOW, to which he was quoted as saying:

"I don't know, I have days where I make lots of progress, I have days where I make next to no progress, I have days where I think I'm going backwards because I don't like what I wrote yesterday."

"I'm just writing it and when it's done, it'll be done," he added.

There is speculation that "The Winds of Winter" will probably hit the shelves sometime "between 2015 and 2017."

Meanwhile, in one of the creator's latest Live Journal entries he revealed that of all his characters, the stout Lannister is his favorite.

"Tyrion is my favorite character."

"Okay? OKAY? Can we PLEASE put that one to rest?? I love all my viewpoint characters, Arya and Sansa and Bran, Jon Snow and Brienne, Arianne and Cersei and Jaime, Theon, even Victarion and the Damphair, ALL of them, but I love Tyrion the bestest. Tyrion son of Tywin, the Imp, second son of Casterly Rock," he added.
