WWE Wrestlemania 33 News: Big Show Gets Another Bid at Andre The Giant Trophy as Fight With Shaq is Canceled
The Big Show's Wrestlemania 33 gig gets clearer. Recently, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. announced that Big Show will get another shot at the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. However, his famed match with NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has reportedly been canceled.
Big Show was present during the latest Monday night RAW episode where his Battle Royal gig at the upcoming Wrestlemania 33 event scheduled for Sunday, April 2 was confirmed. However, it was not as grand as other announcements have been because he was consistently interrupted by The New Day until the time for Big Show's segment was up.
Thankfully, WWE's official Twitter page followed up with its own announcement to confirm Big Show's appearance at Wrestlemania 33. If he emerges as the last man standing in the said category, it will be his second time winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Back at Wrestlemania 31 in March 2015, Big Show brought home the Andre The Giant trophy by eliminating Damien Mizdow at the said tournament.
Hearing Big Show get the fight card for Wrestlemania 33 is a good thing since his initial anticipated match with O'Neal has reportedly been canceled. Fans might have seen it coming, considering Big Show's recent statements of frustration about how he thinks O'Neal is treating the supposed upcoming match.
Earlier this month, Big Show revealed that the future of his match with O'Neal has become bleak, adding that he thinks the NBA Hall of Famer is terrified to face him in the WWE ring.
In a previous interview with WWE.com, Big Show said: "We shot this off at the ESPY Awards, Shaq said he's in, I thought this would be a good match for fans to see two giants go at it. ... I don't have foot powder commercials, car commercials, insurance commercials. I get it. He's a busy man. But if he's gonna step in the ring, in my business, at our biggest event of the year? Show me you're serious."
However, more recently, O'Neal also reacted about the issue, implying that he should not be blamed for the match's cancellation. Through the NBA star's podcast, he clarified (via Comicbook.com): "I've talked to somebody high up in the organization, and they – we're back talking again. I just want the people to know it had nothing to do with me, despite what you hear."
