'X-Men: Apocalypse' News, Spoilers: Bryan Singer Explains Jean-Scott Romance; Wolverine to Appear in next 'Apocalypse' Trailer?

While the trailers for the highly anticipated "X-Men: Apocalypse" may show nothing but fighting and destruction, there's also a bit of romance thrown into the film.

In the latest "X-Men" installment, fans will find a younger Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) meeting each other for the first time at Professor Charles Xavier's (James McAvoy) school. But though fans of the "X-Men" film franchise already know how the couple's love story unfolds when the two are adults, they may be surprised to find out that the pair's first meeting didn't exactly set off sparks.

"In the beginning, she's the last thing he's interested in," "X-Men: Apocalypse" director Bryan Singer told Entertainment Weekly. "When he first comes to the mansion, Scott's blind so he can't see her. Suddenly he gets some glasses and now he can see her and he's like 'Oh! That's Jean Grey.' Both of them are misfits in a way."

According to Singer, while the other mutants at the school have more or less come to grips with their powers, all of it is new to Scott and he initially doesn't appreciate having his powers or being at the school. As for Jean, the telepathic mutant is only just clueing in to the powerful darkness that hides deep within her.

Nevertheless, the two do eventually come to like each other and the rest, as they say, is history.

Meanwhile, the latest rumor about "X-Men: Apocalypse" is that it will take a page from the Marvel playbook and reveal a fan favorite character in its latest trailer. Just as the last full-length trailer for "Captain America: Civil War" introduced the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland), it is being reported that a new "Apocalypse" trailer, said to drop this week, will show viewers the beloved Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).

According to a report by Heroic Hollywood, Wolverine will make an appearance in an "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer that will be debuted at CinemaCon in Las Vegas sometime this week. It still remains unclear if the character will have a major role in the upcoming film or if he is merely doing a cameo like the one he did for "X-Men: First Class" (2011).

"X-Men: Apocalypse" hits theaters May 27.
