Xiaomi Mi5 Specs, Rumors: Upcoming Flagship Scores 73K on AnTuTu, Shows Snapdragon 820 SoC

Xiaomi Mi 5

In the past two years, Xiaomi has paved its way from being an unknown Chinese brand to a world-renowned smartphone manufacturer. This time of the year, Xiaomi goes back to its flagship lineup - the Mi smartphones.

While the newest of the bunch, the Xiaomi Mi5, has not been announced yet, a new report claims that the unannounced smartphone has made its way to AnTuTu's benchmark.

According to the report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered device has recently been tested on AnTuTu and its scores have registered an impressive 73,075 points. Based on the comparison chart shown on the report, the Mi5 is much more powerful than some current high-end handsets in the market such as the Meizu MX4, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and the higher-end model of the Asus Zenfone 2.

Meanwhile, compared to the current official top smartphones in the processing department, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge 'only' scored a little above 70k.

In addition, the report indicated that the upcoming Xiaomi flagship would run on the freshly-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, which explains the better performance compared to Samsung's Exynos 7420 chipsets.

The report also mentioned that Xiaomi may also opt for the MediaTek Helio X20 that has 10 cores running. However, the TENAA certification page that has been leaked showed that the upcoming Mi flagship would get eight cores of CPU.

Aside from the powerful chipset, the Xiaomi Mi5 will also boast a 5.3-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, a whopping 4GB of RAM, a 16MP primary camera that has optical image stabilisation, and a USB Type-C port. The device should run on Android 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI 7 on top.

Considering the Mi3 and Mi4's announcement dates in the previous years, the Mi5 should make its debut before August ends, or even during the IFA event in September in Berlin.
