The search for Kaiden Burnside ensued when an SUV was stolen on Christmas Eve in Richmond, Va. with Burnside still in the backseat.

The motor of the vehicle was running when Clemons stole the car, but police are uncertain if the Clemons was aware that a child was strapped in the backseat of the vehicle when he stole it. It is unclear why Burnside was in the backseat of the car unattended.

After the vehicle was stolen police issued an Amber Alert for the child, which specified that the child was "believed to be in extreme danger.”

After the child was found safe and unharmed, Richmond police tweeted, “2-year-old Kaiden Burnside is OK. Found alone inside SUV off Jennie Scher Road. Thanks to everyone for assistance.”

The SUV was found on the side of the road near the scene of the robbery with Burnside asleep in the backseat. Authorities believe that once Clemons realized a child was in the car, he abandoned the vehicle.

Burnside was reunited with his mother around midnight on Christmas Eve, just in time for the Christmas holiday.

Police continue their search for Clemons, who is believed to have killed two people in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond following a home invasion robbery before stealing the car. Clemons is wanted for robbery, robbery with a firearm, abduction, and other charges.
