2017 Ford GT Supercar Specs Review: Eco Boost Engine Takes More Gas Than Dodge Viper V10

Ford graces the automobile scene with a powerful car made to combat the fastest models in the market. The 2017 Ford GT is the fastest car ever made by the company, which can run at over 210 mph.

Ford's 2017 GT may be the supercar that every racer would want to drive. It can deliver the highest output that no Eco Boost system has reached so far. With a 3.5-liter of V6 engine that yields 550 lb. ft. of torque and 647 horsepower, it is able to sustain a 216 mph of speed.

"Our expectation has always been that the EcoBoost V6 would perform exceptionally well in the Ford GT — both in terms of power as well as aerodynamic efficiency," said Ford Performance global director, Dave Pericak. "We tested and developed this powertrain through the Daytona Prototype race car that ran in IMSA for two seasons, last season racing with Ford GT."

Pericak also stated that they are proud of the car's performance both on the road and on track. However, according to Business Insider, 2017 Ford GT returns 18 highway, 11 mpg city and 14 when combined, as seen via the EPA. It is said to perform worse than the Dodge Viper V10 with fuel economy features.

As for the speed, the 216 mph is noticeably impressive, but no figure for acceleration has been out yet. It is believed that it could also perform 60 mph in 3 seconds or less, similar to the vehicles of the same type.

2017 Ford GT was able to run a race with Ferrari 458 Speciale and McLaren 675LT during a test and it was able to deliver a 2:09.8 time around a track of 3.1 miles. Ferrari's race car finished at 2:12.9. while 675LT was clocked at 2:10.8.

The Ford 2017 GT is being produced by Multimatic Inc. in Markham, Ontario, which aims to deliver 250 units per year. The first units have already been shipped.
