2018 Acura RLX Release Date, Specs, Price News: Redesigned Luxury Sedan Starts at $54,900

For the 2018 model year, Acura has redesigned the RLX to reflect the automaker's current design language. The luxury sports sedan is now available at dealers with a starting price of $54,900.

The 2018 RLX now reflects Acura's Precision Crafted Performance DNA. The front fascia comes with Acura's signature diamond pentagon grille and a more sculpted hood. In the rear, new design elements include redesigned LED taillights, exposed dual exhaust pipes and a gloss black rear diffuser.

As for the cabin, the 2018 RLX made use of premium materials and finishes to give passengers a sophisticated, spacious and comfortable experience. The interior features new seats with luxe leather and accent stitching. Customers can also opt for an Espresso interior and a black headliner.

Customers will be able to choose between two models of the 2018 RLX.

The base trim grade, Precision All-Wheel Steering (P-AWS), is powered by a 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy ratings are 20 miles per gallon (mpg) for city driving, 29 mpg for highway driving and 23 mpg for combined driving.

Meanwhile, the Sport Hybrid model has a $61,900 price tag, which is $4,050 less than its predecessor. It is powered by the same engine along with three electric motors and the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. The powertrain delivers 377 horsepower and 341 pound-feet of torque. Performance is comparable to the Acura NSX sports car.

Standard features for the Sport Hybrid include a head-up display, premium 14-speaker Krell audio system, surround view camera, front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, and heated seats and steering wheel, among others.

Both models feature AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, including Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Road Departure Mitigation.

All starting prices mentioned will incur an additional $965 destination charge.
