Aaron Sorkin Expresses Interest in Writing Screenplay for Steve Jobs Film
Well-known screenwriter, producer and playwright Aaron Sorkin recently expressed his interest in writing for the rumored Sony movie about the life and work of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
“Sony has asked me to write the movie and it’s something I’m strongly considering,” said Sorkin to E! Online at the “P.S. Arts Express Yourself 2011” event in Santa Monica. “He was a great entrepreneur, he was a great artist and a great thinker.”
He also spoke about Jobs’ influence on his daughter.
“He’s probably inspired my 11-year-old daughter Roxy more than he’s inspired me. She plays with all of his toys,” Sorkin added.
Sony recently acquired the rights to create a film based on the Walter Isaacon’s Steve Jobs biography.
George Clooney is rumored to be playing Steve Jobs.
Another actor in the running’s for the part is Noah Wyle, who already played Jobs in "Pirates of Silicon Valley" and stated that he would “give his eye teeth” to take on the role again in a full-length feature.
Sorkin is no stranger to chronicling the life of tech whizzes, because he wrote the screenplay for 2010s “The Social Network,” a film about the beginning of Facebook and its creators.
The film controversially portrayed Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as a ruthless young entrepreneur who stole the idea for Facebook from fellow Harvard classmates the Winklevoss brothers and kicked his best friend and partner Eduardo Saverin out of the company after he was advised by the man who created Napster, Sean Parker.
Both Zuckerberg and Parker have said “The Social Network” did not portray them completely accurate.
Even with the criticism, Sorkin’s adaptation still made for an interesting film and gained eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.
