Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Rolls Out for LG G3 on T-Mobile

It's official. T-Mobile has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for LG G3.

The update will bump the LG G3's software version to D85130d, according to the T-Mobile support page. The update will bring Wi-Fi calling improvements, better volume controls, granular application permissions, Doze mode, Google's Now on Tap feature, and more.

The rollout started Tuesday, May 3, though Android Authority notes it might take about a day or two for the update to arrive. LG G3 on T-Mobile owners should receive a notification of the update soon but for those who can't wait, they can check for the update themselves by going to Settings>About phone>Update Centers>System updates>Check now.

If the update is available, users should remember to backup before installing, just in case. The Android 6.0 update is 704 MB so LG G3 owners should make sure they have a speedy Wi-Fi connection as well as 50 percent or more battery life.

Aside from downloading the update over the air, it can also be downloaded from a computer through the LG PC Suite, which links the phone to the PC.

Reports about T-Mobile updating the LG G3 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow started about a week ago. Users said the update was already available then through the LG PC Suite.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow was announced back in September and began rolling out the following month. The update first arrived to the newer LG G4. Competitor Verizon was the first to update their customers' LG G3 earlier this year. AT&T and Sprint are also expected to begin updating their LG G3 soon as well.

The update could be the last the LG G3 will receive. The typical update support for any device is two years and the LG G3 was released back in 2014.
