Anna Benson Arrested, Charged for Attacking Husband Kris Benson With Gun and Metal Baton
Former "Baseball Wives" star Anna Benson was arrested on Sunday night after allegedly threatening her husband, former Mets pitcher Kris Benson, with a gun and metal baton.
Anna Benson entered Kris Benson's apartment on Sunday night, threatening her ex husband with a gun and asking him for money. The woman, wearing a bulletproof vest, was angry after receiving a court order that would require her to move out of the marital home that she once shared with Benson.
Anna Benson was also armed with an "expandable metal baton" while attempting to force Kris Benson into giving her money, law enforcement officials told TMZ. At some point in the altercation, Anna Benson also pulled out a gun, the report alleged.
Kris Benson responded to his estranged ex-wife by telling her that he would give her money and then exiting the house to call police. Anna Benson was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with "2 counts of felony aggravated assault with a weapon, 1 count of criminal trespass, and 1 count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime."
Anna Benson is known for her strong personality in "Baseball Wives." She was married to Kris Benson in 1999 while working as a dancer at a gentleman's club. She was blamed for distracting Kris Benson from his career as a major league pitcher. During his time with MLB, Benson earned over $38 million, according to multiple reports.
In a 2005 interview, Anna Benson had nothing but good things to say about her husband.
"I was terrible until I got with Kris," she told The New Yorker. "He put the glow on me. He's the most real person I know. Kris can do self-hypnosis, he's so in tune with his body. When I came to him, I had nothing-two pairs of panties and one bra. Suddenly, I found I was married to a millionaire."
